Oleg Rummo, Honored Doctor of Belarus by the “personality code”, “I still can’t throw away the shoes in which the first transplantation” the guest of the program “The Code of Personality” of the Television Code of Belarus today has dedicated most of his life to medicine. Honored Doctor of Belarus, director of the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Oleg Rummo told schoolchildren and students about his dreams and attitude to medical superstitions.

He also shared what he was ready to dismiss his employee. From eight to years of Oleg Olegovich’s work in surgery and transplantology, much has changed: the number of transplanting operations has increased, and training has improved. And most importantly - Belarus has risen in the world ranking on the number of transplantations, the guest of the program quotes: - annually, the World Health Organization collects statistics from all countries in different categories.

According to the results of the year, our country is on the ninth line according to the level of development of organ donation. But in terms of the number of transplantation per million people we are in place. This is a good result. Belarus has been included in the top of this rating for more than ten years. When I came to the profession in X, only eight operations were carried out in the country, and then only on the renal transplantation.

Now their number has increased to thanks to state investments in the training of specialists, organizational decisions, we in the shortest possible time have brought our transplantology to the leading positions. I dream that our country in the world ranking takes a place in the top ten. It is not easy to lead the scientific and practical center in which they work near a person.

Spectators in the studio asked Oleg Olegovich if he was a tough boss. This question caused a transplant surgeon a smile:-I think it is better to ask my subordinates about it. I am sure everyone will answer differently. One will say that I am too soft, the other is too demanding. I live by this principle: if you are too sweet, they will melt, and if too bitter, they spit it out.

Therefore, I try to be demanding and fair. But if I note that the employee is poorly treated to his patients, I will drive him out of work at the same second. The director of the MNPC of surgery, transplantology and hematology agrees with the statement only partly: - Severe patients are not only among surgeons.

In general, this is a terrible feeling - to go to the operation and understand that the patient has little chance of surviving. This is always stress, internal tragedy. It would seem that for so many years of work it was time to get used to, but I can’t. Perhaps this should be treated less emotionally than I do. Nevertheless, when I worry about the patient, the whole family notes this.

I can’t rejoice, knowing about the serious condition of another person. I hope that the “personal cemetery” someday will stop growing. I would really like all my patients to recover. In the year, when the pandemic of Covid began, there were many rumors around the virus. Some said that he was from a test tube, others assured that he was natural. Medical students in the studio were interested in what opinion the guest of the program had on this.

Oleg Olegovich shared that he analyzed the events of four years ago: - Knowledge in the field of virology and the fact that no one in the world was ready for the emergence of such a virus, prompted me to the idea that, most likely, it is artificial.

The legendary virologist, the holder of the Nobel Prize Luke Montagnier was also such an opinion. Fortunately, we coped with him through vaccination. They do not serve, but sometimes it seems that only a miracle can help a person. Oleg Olegovich admitted that during complex operations he turns to God: - I can’t boast of the fact that I often visit the temple or service, but I sincerely believe that there is the highest force that directs us.

Sometimes I ask the gentlemen to manage my hands and head so that the operation is successful and the patient recovered. What about special rituals? For example, step into the operating room from the left leg or say hello to colleagues in a specific manner? But at the same time, I still have shoes in which I carried out the first transplantation in my office.

Although I have not wear them for a long time, my hand does not rise to throw them out. In the end, the guys in the studio asked the guest to tell what phrases or actions of patients bring the doctor discomfort. Oleg Olegovich allocated only one thing for himself: - I am very jarging when they say "medical care." It seems to me that this is something about restaurants, service.

Doctors do not serve, but help, save.
