Boklevsky biography is brief
After graduating from the Ryazan gymnasium, he studied at the Law Faculty of Moscow University - in one of the works “On Roman Possession”, he outlined critical views on the system of serfdom in Russia. Refusing to rewrite this essay “in the right manner”, he left the university, and without receiving the title “candidate Pravkinovsky served as the provincial secretary in Ryazan.
He lived in two cities, while in St. Petersburg, took lessons from a professor at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts A. Egorov, with K. Boklevsky was the author of drawings for the sculptural horses P. Klodt on the Anichkovo Bridge in St. Petersburg. However, his dream was not destined to be realized, all these materials, books and sketches disappeared upon returning to Russia. Material circumstances forced the artist to take on custom portraits, he performed a lot of portrait miniatures. The unusual skill of Boklevsky to transfer the similarity, the subtle technique of execution increased the demand for his works. Work in miniature influenced the entire subsequent manner of drawing the artist.
Boklevsky is actively engaged in social activities. After returning to the Ryazan province, he is elected the justice of the peace of the Skopinsky district, the provincial vowel, later the honorary justice of the peace. And, up to the death, writes new works. In Ryazan, his caricatures for the tyranny of the local governor P. Kozhin later lived mainly in Moscow. The last period of the artist’s life was difficult due to poverty and disease, but he worked on illustrations almost until his death.
His drawings and watercolors are full of romantic irony.
